Controversial Comic Reveals What You’re Really Saying When You Support Gender Equality, But Not Feminism

Like VK on FB:

Gender equality is the state in which access to rights or opportunities is unaffected by gender. Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. As you can see from this funny cartoon by Nathan Yaffe from CollegeHumor however, even though the two terms share many similarities, some people have very different ideas about what they actually mean.

While feminism is fundamentally about gender equality, some folks think that true equality can only come about by oppressing and persecuting men in the same way that men have done to women throughout history. It makes for a funny cartoon, but in reality it’s important to remember that this is far from what gender equality actually means! Do you think the artist made his point?
