Love is something that supports us at the hardest of times and comes in many different forms. Sometimes love means sending a bouquet of flowers, and other times it’s an angry note that reads, “Put your hat on!” Yes, we may not always understand our relatives and friends and sometimes we’ll have arguments with them, but we do know that in times of need they’ll be there because they love us. That’s what love is all about!

Bright Side has collected stories of love from different people online. They are quite different from one another but all of them speak the universal language of love!

“I had a bad fight with my husband. I was mad, so I said, ’Well, leave then!’ And he said, ’Okay, I will!’ He started packing his stuff but his pants were being washed in the washing machine. He was in a hat, a jacket, and his underwear and I said, ’The pants will be wet’. He said, ’Why would you care?’ He looked so funny that I laughed out loud and so did he. This is how we made peace.”

“My boyfriend works as a child entertainer, he wears a bear costume. And this bear looks exactly like a bear from my childhood. So when I feel bad and I need to talk to someone, he puts the costume on, and I sit on his lap and start telling him about everything. 30 minutes of crying pass and then I feel as if I was reborn. I call this ’bear therapy’.”

“Once I was on a bus, and I looked at the ceiling and saw a light reflecting from my cell phone. I saw another light right next to mine. I started moving mine all around the bus and the other one chased mine. When I came to my bus stop, I stood next to the door. And then suddenly someone hugged me and said, ’Gotcha!’ This is how I met my husband.”

“My dad proposed to my mother at a very interesting moment. They dated already and he was teaching her to drive. But something went wrong and he asked her if she would marry him in the car that was slowly sinking in the river. Thank God, the river was shallow and they got out. One month later, they got married. Now my mother can drive.”

“After work, I decided to do some cleaning at home before my husband arrived home from his business trip. But when I sat on the couch, I fell asleep instantly. I woke up late in the evening, the house was clean, dinner was cooked, and my husband was asleep. My 14-year-old daughter left a note on the desk that said, ’I did all the errands, I cooked dinner, and put Dad to sleep. I went to Ann’s, I’ll be one hour later than usual. Not up for discussion, I earned it.’ Well, she really did earn it!”

***

“I fell in love with a professor. I was mad about him, I took all his classes, I did all the tasks and I kept asking him questions. I didn’t marry him but I became a real professional and found a cool job.”

***

“I hid under the bed when my girlfriend was in the shower. When she came out, she saw that nobody was in the room. She ran into the closet and hid inside to scare me. We are an ideal couple.”

***

“Once I told my son that I had always dreamt of going to Disneyland and showed him a video on YouTube. And today, on the day of my 30th anniversary, my husband and my son (7 years old) presented me with tickets to the park. My son remembered and told my husband. He started saving money without telling me. In a week we are flying to France. I’m so happy.”

***

“My husband’s name is Jack, he works on a big team and often comes home angry and irritated. To help him reduce stress, I put him to bed, give him ice cream and tell him tales that I make up myself about ’The Smart Jack who punishes bad guys’. And when he does something stupid himself, I tell him about ’The Silly Jack who manages to fix everything.’ He always goes to bed with a smile.”

“My father is a military man, he is always very reserved. At home, we fight as a joke but he never hugs me, never shows his love. I was always sad about this. Some time ago, a guy left me. I came home and my father yelled from the kitchen, ’Why so fast?’ I said in a trembling voice, ’Everything is fine.’ He came to me and I was already crying. And then something that I had been waiting for my entire life happened: my father hugged me and told me that I was the best daughter and that he loved me more than anything, and nobody deserved my tears. And you know what? It was the best break up I’ve ever had in my life.”

“16 years ago, when we were 6 years old, we played ‘wedding’. Today, we are actually getting married.”

“I was telling my boyfriend how I managed to fight with a penguin in the zoo and he burst out laughing, stood on one knee and proposed to me with a bagel saying, ’Let’s do crazy stuff like this till the end of our lives!’ ”

***

“My mother and father didn’t have much money when they were young so they just got married but regretted that they never had a wedding. A surprise for them is coming — this fall I’m making a real wedding ceremony for my parents.”

***

“In order to surprise me, my boyfriend learned to make pancakes while flipping them in the air. The grease stains on the ceiling showed me that it wasn’t an easy thing for him to do.”

***

“My friend has always been very beautiful. She always cared about her appearance as if she was a Hollywood star explaining that only pathologists were interested in what she had inside her. This is exactly what happened. She has been happily married to a pathologist for three years now.”

***

“My husband has a huge belly. He never argues with me because otherwise, he will have nobody to tie his shoelaces.”

***

“I’m a guy. I have a beard, a bike, I love metal music and I have a lot of experience with alcohol. I also played the bass guitar in several bands and did a lot of stuff I’m not proud of. But lately, my family and my home have become more important to me. Now I really love cooking, especially baking — muffins and stuff like that. It’s hard to express what I feel when my children (4 and 2 years old) eat what I have cooked, hug me and tell me that the food was delicious.”

***

“I’m 25, I’ve been living abroad, working for quite some time. But every time I call my mother, she says, ’Yes, sweety?’ And all my problems and stress go away instantly.”
