A prototype flying car has completed a 35-minute flight between international airports in Nitra and Bratislava, Slovakia.

The hybrid car-aircraft, AirCar, is equipped with a BMW engine and runs on regular petrol-pump fuel.

Its creator, Prof Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and had clocked up 40 hours in the air so far.

It takes two minutes and 15 seconds to transform from car into aircraft.

‘Very pleasant’

The narrow wings fold down along the sides of the car.

Prof Klein drove it straight off the runway and into town upon arrival, watched by invited reporters.

He described the experience, early on Monday morning, as “normal” and “very pleasant”.

In the air, the vehicle reached a cruising speed of 170km/h.

It can carry two people, with a combined weight limit of 200kg (31 stone).

But unlike drone-taxi prototypes, it cannot take off and land vertically and requires a runway.

There are high expectations for the nascent market in flying cars, which have long been heralded in popular culture as a visionary landmark of the future.

In 2019, consultant company Morgan Stanley predicted the sector could be worth $1.5trillion (£1tn) by 2040.

And at an industry event on Tuesday, Hyundai Motors Europe chief executive Michael Cole called the concept “part of our future”.

It is considered a potential solution to the strain on existing transport infrastructures.

‘Huge market’

The company behind AirCar, Klein Vision, says the prototype has taken about two years to develop and cost “less than 2m euros” (£1.7m) in investment.

Anton Zajac, an adviser and investor in Klein Vision, said if the company could attract even a small percentage of global airline or taxi sales, it would be hugely successful.

“There are about 40,000 orders of aircraft in the United States alone,” he said.

“And if we convert 5% of those, to change the aircraft for the flying car – we have a huge market.”

‘Really cool’

Dr Stephen Wright, senior research fellow in avionics and aircraft, at the University of the West of England, described the AirCar as “the lovechild of a Bugatti Veyron and a Cesna 172”.

And he did not think the vehicle would be particularly loud or uneconomical in terms of fuel costs, compared with other aircraft.

“I have to admit that this looks really cool – but I’ve got a hundred questions about certification,” Dr Wright said.

“Anyone can make an aeroplane but the trick is making one that flies and flies and flies for the thick end of a million hours, with a person on board, without having an incident.

“I can’t wait to see the piece of paper that says this is safe to fly and safe to sell.”

Playing the role of a bad guy is always a big challenge, even for the most talented actors. But some of them manage to transform in such an amazing manner that their characters become absolutely impossible to forget. And despite their transformations into such evil characters, these actors still manage to stay incredibly charming.

We were charmed by these charismatic actors and we can’t hide our excitement any longer. So today, we want to tell you more about them. And in the bonus feature, you’ll see a character that is so evil, she deserved to have an entire show made all about her.

Ralph Fiennes

The British actor has played evil people many times, from a concentration camp commander in Schindler’s List with a cold and cruel look that could give chills to the bravest people; to a maniac known as Francis Dolarhyde in Red Dragon; to Hades in Wrath of the Titans. And of course, he played the main villain in the Harry Potter movies, the Dark Lord.

Christoph Waltz

This German and Austrian actor became popular worldwide 11 years ago after playing the role of standartenführer Hans Landa in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. And in just a short time, Christoph Waltz managed to play other charming villains, like the head of an enemy organization in Spectre, a cruel husband and fraud in Big Eyes, and the merciless circus director in Water for Elephants. You might also remember him as the criminal from The Green Hornet.

Mads Mikkelsen

The actor’s cold, Nordic appearance charmed a lot of women when he starred in Hannibal, even though he played a very dark role in it. The actor also appeared as a villain in Casino Royale, Doctor Strange, and The Three Musketeers.

Gary Oldman

When you look at this smiling, handsome guy, it’s hard to believe that he was Dracula in Francis Ford Coppola’s film, the main villain of the famous criminal drama, Léon, and a space criminal in The Fifth Element.

Javier Bardem

This Spanish actor has played a lot of positive characters in his career but he won his first Oscar after playing the part of a psychopath in No Country for Old Men. Additionally, Bardem played James Bond’s enemy in Skyfall and Jack Sparrow’s creepy antagonist in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Willem Dafoe

His unusual appearance and hypnotizing smile make every evil role this actor plays practically iconic. He was the eccentric criminal in Wild at Heart, the terrorist in Speed 2: Cruise Control, the mysterious actor in Shadow of the Vampire, and the main supervillain in Spider-Man.

Heath Ledger

The crazy, terrifying, hypnotizing Joker, played by Heath Ledger, is believed to be the best version of the character in history. He was the heart of the film — and he was way more interesting than any other character of the franchise. Every time he licked his lips, we flinched.

Cillian Murphy

His clear blue eyes and innocent smile work great with the roles of mesmerizing villains. Aside from playing a really cruel bad guy in Peaky Blinders, the actor was one of the villains in the Dark Knight trilogy and a member of a criminal organization in Red Eye.

Malcolm McDowell

The actor is so great at playing the most despicable villains that directors just keep on offering him similar roles. He played Caligula in a self-titled movie, he was Andrei Romanovich Evilenko in Evilenko, but his role as the criminal in A Clockwork Orange became his first signature part.

Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro is known for playing, quite possibly, the biggest villain in the history of cinema. He has played 19 bad guy roles and he’s in first place on the list of actors who’ve played villains more often than anyone else. The first time he played a bad guy was in The Godfather Part II (just look at those cheekbones and that chin!) and the most recent one he’s played was in The Irishman, released in 2019.

Tom Hiddleston

The cunning god, played by Tom Hiddleston, is loved by way more fans than his kind and strong brother in the Marvel universe. And we could watch his scenes with his iconic jokes over and over again.

Christopher Walken

For millions of movie fans, the name of this amazing actor is a guarantee that a film is worth watching. His bad-guy roles are always amazing and have included James Bond’s antagonist in A View to a Kill, the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow, a supervillain in Batman Returns, and a crime boss in King of New York — all of the villains played by Christopher Walken are fascinating to watch.

Peter Stormare

The breakthrough for this Swedish actor was his part as a psychopath that was shot and arrested in the iconic film, Fargo by the Coen brothers. After that, he was unstoppable! He played a criminal in 8MM, a torturer in The Brothers Grimm, Lucifer himself in Constantine, and a whole list of other characters. The actor has played 17 truly evil roles over the course of his career.

Bonus: The most despicable female villain

Nurse Ratched from the Oscar-winning film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest likely has the coldest heart and the evilest look. Her scary methods of humiliation hurt the souls of the patients in the hospital she worked in. It’s not surprising that there’s a TV series called Ratched that premiered on September 18.

Do you like bad guys from movies? Or are you always on the good character’s side?

Truly talented actresses can pull off very different roles, including the ones where they have to transform into really unattractive women. In order to make the transformation look real, they have to do very different things: lose or gain a lot of weight in a very short time, wear shapeless clothes, or spend a lot of time in makeup that covers up their beauty.

All this effort is appreciated by regular viewers and movie critics alike. 4 of the actresses we are going to tell you about were even awarded with the most prestigious prize in the cinema world — the Oscar.

We have found 11 actresses that can portray both fatal beauties and unattractive women.

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet has portrayed quite a few beautiful women, but it was the role of an illiterate German woman that was convicted for the death of hundreds of people in The Reader. This film brought the actress her Oscar award. Thanks to her, and the amazing work of the makeup artists, Kate’s character looked much older and uglier than Kate herself.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is known to be a very diverse actress. For her role in V for Vendetta, Portman was brave enough to shave her head and in Goya’s Ghosts (the photo on the left), she played a woman who was a victim of the Spanish Inquisition.
Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz is a typical Hollywood blonde woman with a charming smile who is very hard to image as an unattractive woman. However, in the 1999 film Being John Malkovich, Cameron played an unattractive girl. The absence of makeup and a heap of dark curls on her head made her look fitting for the role and because of this she was nominated for such prestigious awards as the BAFTA and a Golden Globe.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman won her Oscar in 2003 for the role of writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Thanks to the makeup, she looked very much like her prototype. And the list of films where the actress plays beautiful women is really long: Moulin Rouge!, The Others, Cold Mountain, Australia, Grace of Monaco, and many others.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron has appeared in roles of fatal beauties many times, but the true recognition and love of movie critics came with her role in Monster. In this film, the actress played a serial killer. In order to achieve the transformation, she had to gain more than 22 lbs and she looked revolting thanks to the work of some talented makeup artists. For her role in Monster, Theron was awarded with a Golden Globe, an Oscar, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Hollywood beauty, Michelle Pfeiffer, transformed into a scary old witch in Matthew Vaughn’s Stardust. And when she became young in the film, we were absolutely amazed by how beautiful and fit she still is. She was about 50 years old when she worked on this film.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway played the role of Fantine in the musical Les Misérables, based on the novel by Victor Hugo. Anne’s character needed to feed herself and her daughter, so she had to sell her hair, her teeth, and become a prostitute.

In order to play this role, in a very short time period, she had to lose more than 22 lbs and had her long hair cut on camera — this scene was actually done for real. For her role in Les Misérables, Anne got a Golden Globe, an Oscar, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Drew Barrymore

The girl from the Barrymore actor dynasty has been on the big screen since she was 5 years old. Her first success was after her role in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Drew basically grew up on-screen and we got to see her in different ways — extremely beautiful and when she was a plump teenager with braces in the film Never Been Kissed.

Gwyneth Paltrow

For the role in the comedy Shallow Hal, scriptwriters and directors of the film from the Farrelly brothers dressed Gwyneth Paltrow in a 25-lb costume and put special latex makeup on the actress’s face. The actress admitted that when she decided to walk down the street wearing this costume, people around her didn’t recognize her and tried to avoid looking at her. Thanks to this experience, she realized how hard it was for people to live with extra weight.

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is no longer just an actress in the romantic comedies of the ’90s. After her well-deserved Oscar for her role in Erin Brockovich, nobody doubted her talent. In Secret in Their Eyes (the left photo), Roberts appeared in the role of a woman detective whose daughter was killed violently.

Lena Headey

This English actress has quite a few good roles in her filmography, but she became truly famous after her role of Cersei Lannister in the series Game of Thrones. In the 2012 Dredd, Lena played a merciless woman-gangster. For this role, she had to get some makeup that portrayed scars on her face. She also had to have bad teeth and cracked lips.

Can you think of any other actresses that are as devoted to their work as these wonderful women?

No matter how much time has passed, there are things that never change. Like the fact that the Titanic sank or that the film adaptation of this story remains a major success that made millions of people cry in theatres. The movie is so good, it probably still affects many viewers to this day. But the truth is, aside from being tear-inducing, some things do change, like the actors who took part in this movie. What do you think they’ve been up to for the last 23 years?

Bright Side is very inquisitive, which is why we want to share a selection of 13 actors that appeared in Titanic, so that you can see what they’re up to and how they look nowadays — 23 years since the movie’s initial release.

1. Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson)

Leonardo DiCaprio won over many viewers thanks to his role as Jack Dawson, but his performance didn’t manage to capture the members of the Academy, so he didn’t get his hands on an Oscar that year — or any time soon after that, for that matter. He had to wait a whopping 18 years to get the coveted statuette for his performance in The Revenant. His latest hit was Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in which he starred alongside Brad Pitt, another iconic actor who made more than one fan swoon in the ’90s. That performance earned DiCaprio another Academy Award nomination.

Moreover, he remains a beloved and professional colleague. In fact, after winning a Golden Globe for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Brad Pitt did not hesitate to honor his fellow actor by saying: “I also have to thank my partner in crime, LDC. I used to watch, year after year, his co-stars accept awards and get up and thank him profusely. Now I know why. He’s an all-star, he’s a gent, and I wouldn’t be here without you, man. I thank you.” But then he managed to troll DiCaprio in the most elegant way by referring to Titanic: “Still, I would’ve shared the raft.” Yep, Brad, we all would have done the same. Except for Rose, that is.
2. Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater)

Like her co-star, Winslet did not manage to win an Oscar for her performance in Titanic. She was still nominated for “Best Actress,” and that’s also a great achievement. She had to wait 11 years to receive a well-deserved statuette, and that was for her role in the film, The Reader. Currently, she’s married to Edward Abel Smith (formerly known as Ned Rocknroll) and is still acting in various projects as she cares for her 3 children.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet remain friends to this day. In 2017, they worked together in a massive fundraising campaign to support efforts to combat climate change. They also organized a private dinner to help a mother with breast cancer.
3. Billy Zane (Caledon Hockley)

Billy Zane delivered an amazing performance as Titanic’s most despicable villain. Hardly anyone would express sympathy for Caledon’s character after witnessing everything he did to keep Jack and Rose apart from each other. In any case, Zane is still acting in films and series such as Cliffs of Freedom and Sky’s Curfew. He is also a painter and organizes exhibitions. Wouldn’t it be great to see one of his works? As for his personal life, he’s engaged to model Candice Neil, with whom he has 2 children.

4. Frances Fisher (Ruth DeWitt Bukater)

Frances Fisher has a daughter with her former partner, actor/director, Clint Eastwood. Their daughter is named Francesca Eastwood, and Fisher even shared the screen with her in an episode of the popular TV series, Fargo, in 2017. One of her latest projects was the 2019 series Watchmen.

5. Kathy Bates (Margaret “Molly” Brown)

Kathy Bates played one of the most beloved characters in the film. She built a solid reputation as a trustworthy character, and throughout her career, she has managed to maintain the public’s affection with a great list of projects. Bates has not only played noble and humble characters, but she is also known for her role as a villain in productions like American Horror Story.

Now, at 72, she is a proud survivor of ovarian and breast cancer. This has inspired her to become a national spokesperson for lymphedema and president of the Lymphatic Education & Research Network’s honorary board, in honor of a condition she suffers from due to her medical history. She has been praised for her important leadership in raising awareness of this disease.

6. Victor Garber (Thomas Andrews)

During the film, many of us felt sorry for the ship’s designer, Thomas Andrews, who witnessed his major work sink to the bottom of the Atlantic. Fortunately, nothing like that happened to Victor Garber, the actor who played the role. Garber got married in 2015 and his career is still in full swing. Today, he continues to carry on a career in acting and in music as well. If he sings as well as he acts, it would be great to hear some of his songs!

7. Bernard Hill (Captain Edward J. Smith)

Before the ship sank, Captain Edward J. Smith confirmed that this would be the last trip of his long career — however, this was not the case for actor Bernard Hill, who played that role. After the positive reviews he received for his role in Titanic, his career continued to blossom. Today, he’s considered a very prestigious actor and has worked in several important productions. And just as well as he played the captain of a ship, he perfectly portrayed a king, Théoden of Rohan in The Lord of the Rings. He has also given his voice as a judge in the film, ParaNorman. We’d expect nothing less from this great actor.

8. Jonathan Hyde (Joseph Bruce Ismay)

All the common sense that Joseph Bruce Ismay’s character lacked, he made up for with his vanity. We can trace the sinking of the Titanic back to many of this character’s decisions. Of course, that also meant that the character wasn’t very popular in the story. However, as much as we blame Joseph, we all speak very highly of Jonathan Hyde, the actor who played the character. Today, he is a family man, having been married for 40 years, and he’s still working in the film and theater industry. He has also given his voice to several animated characters such as Waltolomew Stricklander (or Walter Strickler) in Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia.
9. Ioan Gruffudd (fifth officer Harold Lowe)

Ioan Gruffudd is married to actress Alice Evans and is the father of 2 daughters. In addition to working on well-known films and series, like Harrow or Amazing Grace, he is currently a sponsor of the Trust PA foundation, which helps people with paralysis.

10. Suzy Amis (Lizzy Calvert)

Suzy Amis, who played Rose’s granddaughter, is the mother of 4 children and is married to the film’s director, James Cameron. They tied the knot in 2000 after working together on Titanic. She remains an important public figure. She has founded organizations that are dedicated to raising awareness and fighting against climate change, as well as the promotion of food that does not harm the planet.
11. Eric Braeden (John Jacob Astor IV)

Eric Braeden, who played one of the richest characters aboard the Titanic, is now a 79-year-old married man and father of one child. Besides being an actor, he is a great athlete and plays tennis. He has also published an autobiography in which he talks about how he was an actual survivor of a sinking ship. But, of course, that ship was not the Titanic, it was the MV Wilhelm Gustloff.

12. David Warner (Spicer Lovejoy)

If you haven’t seen this movie in a long time and don’t remember who Spicer Lovejoy was, we’ll try to refresh your memory: he was the cop who kept an eye on Jack because he suspected that he wasn’t the honest person he was pretending to be. Surprisingly, Warner had already had the opportunity to work on a previous film that told the story of the famous sinking ship. That must be why he delivered such a great performance! David Warner still acts on television and on the big screen, with one of his latest hits being Mary Poppins Returns.

13. Danny Nucci (Fabrizio)

Danny Nucci, an American actor with an Italian father and a French Moroccan mother, played Jack’s faithful sidekick and friend on the Titanic. He has been married to actress Paula Marshall since 2003 and has 2 daughters. He continues to work on films and successful series such as Criminal Minds and CSI.

Can you remember the emotions this movie evoked in you when you first saw it? Do you think there was enough room for Jack on the raft? Why? Let us know in the comments.

Get your tissues handy – you’re going to need them after watching In a Heartbeat. It’s a new animated short film that is absolutely breaking the Internet, and it’s so necessary in today’s climate of intolerance and hate.

In a Heartbeat was put together by Ringling College of Art and Design students Beth David and Esteban Bravo as their computer animation thesis, but it has now taken on much more of a life than just a school project. It deals with a young boy struggling to come to terms with his feelings for a handsome peer, a topic never previously explored by animated film, and features an adorable jumping heart that is just begging to be made into a new Pixar mascot. In just 4 minutes, it captures the experience of countless LGBTQ youth, and shows them that there’s nothing to be afraid of.

The Florida students managed to successfully crowdfund almost 5 times their original estimated costs to produce the film through Kickstarter, and their hard work is paying off. Since hitting YouTube, In a Heartbeat has racked up over 5 million views, and everyone watching it is begging for a sequel. Take in the touching short for yourself below, and find out what people are saying about it!

While there were rumors that Disney was having a helluva time casting its new live-action version of Aladdin, it looks like everything has changed…

…because it was announced at D23 in Anaheim on Saturday that Mena Massoud has officially been cast as Aladdin.

And if that name doesn’t sound familiar that’s because he’s a relative newcomer in the acting world, but just LOOK at that smile!

PLEASE SHOW ME THE WORLD.

OK, moving on to our Princess Jasmine who will be played by Naomi Scott (aka Kimberly, the Pink Power Ranger).

Yeah, I’m seeing some Princess Jasmine vibes right here.

And finally, Will Smith, THE WILL SMITH, will be playing the Genie.

Hey, you ain’t never had a friend like Will!
